Welcome back fans. Hope you all had a good amount of turkey this past week. Now for what we're all here for:
Jeff Mullen needs to be fired, or shot, or run out of West Virginia, anything. Get this man out of the coaching booth. Brian Bennet of ESPN shares my thoughts in his blog for this week, "What we learned in the Big East this week":
"2. West Virginia needs an offensive overhaul: Eleven games into the season, it's still hard to tell what the Mountaineers' identity is. One week, they let quarterback Pat White run for 200 yards at Louisville. On Friday at Pittsburgh, they got away from that and tried to throw more, even in the red zone. The offense has been wildly inconsistent all year, especially in some of West Virginia's biggest games. A major revamp needs to happen after the season when White graduates, and the program will need to figure out what type of offense it wants to run in the future."
Thanks Brian, for pointing a finger at Jeff Mullen without actually naming him. This just goes to show that not only are we Mountaineer fans disappointed, but so is the rest of the country. Between Auburn and WVU, I don't know who was the more over-rated team coming into this year. The only reason I'd pick Auburn over WVU? WVU stomped on Auburn in Morgantown this year, thanks to a lights out defense in the 2nd half.
Thanks to Mr. Mullen, the Mountaineers are looking at their first Pre-January bowl game in 4 years, unless the International bowl takes them over UConn. Awesome Jeff, awesome...
Now to the rest of the nation.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I was extremely disappointed in Oregon State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State this week.
OSU had a chance to put away the Pac-10 title for a shot at the Nittany Lions, and got their asses straight up handed to them AT HOME by Oregon. I know it was a rivalry game and anything can happen in those types of games, but the way the Beavers came out made me think that Oregon was playing for the conference title instead of the Beavers. Now the Beavs need some help from UCLA. If UCLA beats USC, then the Beavs will take the title down to Pasadena. Don't make any plans for the Rose Bowl Beaver fans.
Texas Tech won, beating Baylor. But only 35-28. Crabtree went out in the first quarter, but does that really make THAT much of a difference when your QB is a heisman candidate? He's only got 5 other recievers that are decent. In fact, TTU has 9 recievers over 15 catches this year ( 4 with 40 or more) and they all average at LEAST 10 ypc. Rushing is not a problem for the Red Raiders either. Their top 2 RBs have over 650 yds each, have combined for 19 rush TDs, and average over 5 yards per. What happened boys?
And finally, OK State. Two words: Good God. I was disappointed, but I was also impressed. Putting up 41 against an OU D that allowed more than 30 just 3 times all year (45 pts being the highest-L to Texas) is no small task. But the ol' addage rings true- Defense wins Championships.
"DOH!"- Haha, this week's award got split due to a tie. I couldn't decide!
1-) BCS Voters. OU does NOT belong above Texas. Texas beat OU. Texas will give Alabame a better run for their money in the BCS title game, and OU just let up 41 points this week. And we all know how well OU had fared in recent BCS games....
2-) Gator fans- for talking about winning the national title before you play the toughest game in UF history. Alabama will win this game. Florida's momentum will slow this week, with 2 D-linemen being out and Harvin being "questionable". Alabama on the other hand, just spanked their arch-rival in the Iron Bowl. For the first time in 6 years might I add. Sure, it's Auburn, but a rivalry game can produce anything.
Oh, and Nick Saban is a coaching god.
SEC and Big 12 title games this week. I'd love to see OU get slapped around, but Mizzou is terribly over-rated. Sooners romp. As for the SEC, get your spot on the couch now fans. It's going to be one for the ages. ROLL TIDE!

Intro and Thoughts through 11 weeks
Well, first of all, I am the Maniac- Mountaineer Maniac to be exact so I dont get any "I can help you" type comments. That's right, I'm a die hard West Virginia University football fan. I live and die by my Mountaineers as you will find out. I do not live in WV- actually I live in Florida-sadly.
Now, to why I'm here- to rant, rave, and anything else about college football. As I always will, I'll start with my boys:
Look, I understand that you had a great run at Wake Forest Mr. Mullen, but this isn't fuckin Wake Forest. Goin 6-3 through 9 games on a schedule considered to be one of the easiest in major College football is pathetic. I'm not placing all the blame on you for losing to ECU, but that game out in Boulder- all you son. I counted 8 times that you had a 3rd and longer-than-5 situation- with one being a 3rd and 23. Out of those 8 times, you threw screen passes to the wideouts 4 times, and on that 3rd and 23 that was just out of field goal range, you decided to run a draw play up the freakin middle. All that needed to be done was gain 10 yards for Patty Mac to kick a 40 yarder.
The Cincy game was just as bad, sir. Being held to 7 points in the first 3 quarters is absolutely NOT West Virginia football. In fact, it's almost like the Mountaineer Offense was wearing Bearcat uniforms last night. Terrible is all I have to say.
Fans, if Jeff Mullen comes back next year, I think I'll be forced to go sit on Ed Pastilong's front porch with my resume for the OC position. This type of play kills me.
Briefly on the rest of the nation, since it's late and some people have to work tomorrow.
Texas Tech proved me wrong, they now deserve the #2 spot. Graham Harrell should win the Heisman. 40-50 is an insanely good percentage (80% for those who can't do math) and 5 TDs is just as good. Kudos to the defense for stepping up too.
Penn State fell into a trap. Some might say "Iowa was not a trap game". You're wrong, nice try. Iowa's biggest home win before yesterday was against Wisconsin, a 5-3 team. Iowa had not played a ranked team all year, and the Lions got comfortable with a lead in the 4th. Iowa gets it's 6th win. Bowl Bound!
Alabama- Lucky lucky lucky. Escapes with a win in Death Valley to keep the dream alive. Alabama has one test left: Florida in the SEC championship game. Miss St. and Auburn had a chance until the game ended. The Tide will roll through the next 3 weeks. It's gonna be a dandy in Atlanta boys and girls. You're gonna want to save the date.
Now, I'll do one of these every week. I'll pick someone out and laugh at them for stupidity, losing a game they shouldn't have, or just because I feel like picking on them. It's my "DOH!" award.
---Tennessee. Seriously, Wyoming? Wyoming?! A team that lost to Bowling Green by 29 AT HOME? Look, I disagree with hat happened to Coach Fulmer, but come on. It was setup by the college football gods as a feel good game. At home against a previously 3-6 team (now 4-6) who was NOT expected the have a shot at a bowl game this year (or ever again in my mind).. That's right, if Wyoming beats UNLV and Colorado State (hey, it could happen) they are Bowl Eligible. Nice one Vols, it kind of gave me an Appalachian State-Michigan flashback. DOH!
Enjoy Va. Tech at Miami this Thursday night. Battle for sole possesion of 2nd place in the Coastal Division of the ACC. My Pick: VT 23-17.
